AMPANGAN, Feb 25, 2017 –23 students and 15 lecturers from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences  (FPSK), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) had successfully conducted a programme “Sihat Bersama Masyarakat” at the Community Hall of Kampung Bahagia Jiboi, Ampangan.

This corporate-social-responsibility activity is aimed at disseminating various knowledge on health to the community, as well as providing free medical check-up and consultation by health specialists.

“This activity has been well accepted by the community and this shows that they are conscious and aware on health issues. I can see that they are also very keen about practicing and maintaining healthy lifestyle,” said YB Dato Ubaidah Redza, the Assemblyman of Ampangan.

“USIM’s continuous contribution to the society shall be credited and I extremely hoped that the people here can benefit a lot from the shared knowledge for their daily life,” he added.

Meanwhile, the students who participated in the ‘Program Anak Angkat’ in three villages also expressed their excitement.

“Through this particular programme, we are able to treasure a different perspective of life with our new ‘family’ and we have done many activities together. Although the time with them is quite limited, we are deeply touched by the amazing hospitality offered by them,” said the Programme Director, Nur Athirah Ismail, a fifth year student of FPSK.

Also conducted in the programme were traditional sports, colouring competition for kids, health talk by the lecturer of FPSK and visit to the old folks’ home and the disabled.

This programme is initiated by Pejabat Penyelarasan Mukim Ampangan, Puteri UMNO Seremban and the Department of Student Affairs USIM. Also presented was the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Research and Innovation USIM, Honourable Prof Dr Roshada Hashim.
