AMPANG, Feb 22, 2017 – DYMM Tunku Ampuan Besar Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Aishah Rohani binti Almarhum Tengku Besar Mahmud , Chancellor of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) with YAM Tunku Besar Seri Menanti, Tunku Ali Redhauddin ibni Tuanku Muhriz, Pro Chancellor made their inaugural visit to USIM Branch campus in Pandan Indah, Kuala Lumpur today.

The visit was made in conjunction with the Royal Working Visit of Her Royal Highness Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor to look closely at the development of USIM Branch Campus in Pandan Indah in terms of its facilities, infrastructure, teaching and learning facilities and to exchange pleasantries with the students.

USIM Pandan Indah campus that houses two faculties, namely the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FPSK) and the Faculty of Dentistry (FPG) has a total of 227 academic and administrative staff and as many as 641 students.

In a briefing delivered by Emeritus Professor Dato ‘Dr Nik Ismail Nik Nasri on the development of FPSK, he informed that the construction project of FPSK building is expected to be completed in 2019.

“The project will commence end of February under the supervision of JKR Negeri Sembilan with the construction period completion expected in 30 months. USIM hopes the recruitment and enrollment of medical students in 2019, will become the first group to enroll in the new faculty building,” he said.

He also shared the future plans to develop a USIM Health Complex that will house a hospital with the capacity of 180-200 beds, student hostels, staff quarters, a hospital parking building with a capacity of 2500 parking lots, hospitel (hospital with a hotel concept) and residential center for senior citizens. The estimated cost is around RM 1.3 billion and built by private fundings.

In a briefing on FPg delivered by Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr Wan Mohamad Nasir Wan Othman, he said the faculty also will be built in Nilai with an allocation of RM 83 million in the RMK 11. At present, it is in the process of opening tender for its construction.

Among the facilities visited by DYMM were the Student Dental Polyclinic, Specialist Dental Clinic, Skills Lab, Anatomy Museum and Learning Space. In conjunction with the visit, Her Royal Highness also consented to officiate FPg gallery. The visit was also accompanied by USIM Board of Directors and Senior Management of the University.
