NILAI, Feb 22, 2017 – Four artistic products by the University Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM)’s Cultural Centre, namely the Al- Fatihah 7 Taranum album, the Selawat Kontemporari album, the Puisi Islamik Berikan Sakti album and Pantun Collection Pocket Book were launched at the Arts Centre, Students’ Affairs Building, by the Vice Chancellor of USIM, Prof. Dato’ Dr Musa Ahmad.
The launch of the album is among the strategies to enhance artistic creativity which is expected to meet market demand in the entertainment industry, involving students of USIM and a few activists in the local entertainment industry, among others Hafiz Hamidun, Syed Indera Syed Omar (Siso Kopratasa) and Ahmad Fedtri Yahya.
Dato’ Musa in his speech expressed his view that the launch will indirectly introduce USIM’s artistic products to the community within the university as well as the general public, and will be able to add to USIM’s income as well.
“I view this kind of effort as a proactive strategy taken by USIM Cultural Centre which can serve as an example to other universities, so that they can see how cultural activities are carried out in USIM,” the Vice Chancellor of USIM stated.
“The USIM Cultural Centre is the only one of its kind present at the book fest, which is something to be proud of as the level of participation by USIM students is very encouraging,” said En Ismail Ahmed, Director of the Cultural Centre.
Also present were Datuk Mohd Hassan Mohd Nor, Assistant Chief Editor of Utusan Melayu (Malaysia) Berhad, Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Nordin Kardi, Vice Chancellor of Kolej Universiti Islam Sultan Azlan Shah and activists from the local arts and entertainment industry, among others Nash and Fauzi Marzuki.
The Al Fatihah 7 Taranum album presents recitation of Surah Al Fatihah by arts icon Husaini Mahmur in 7 types of taranum (lyrical style of Quran recitation), namely Bayati, Nahwan, Hijaz, Rast, Sikah, Jiharkah and Soba. This album is intended to educate society on the various types of taranum through Surah Al-Fatihah , given that it is customarily the chosen verse and is very frequently recited. This album, priced at RM10.00 each, is suitable for every segment of society and can be used as a guide to gain familiarity with taranum.
The Selawat Kontemporari album is a selawat (sending blessings on the Prophet) album by USIM students, given a new and refreshing feel through special collaboration with Hafiz Hamidun. It contains 7 contemporary selawat songs of a universal musical genre which incorporates the use of a variety of percussion instruments from various countries. It is being sold at the price of RM15.00.
The Lagu Puisi Islamik Berikan Sakti album is a compilation of 9 poetic songs which contain valuable messages for the community. The song lyrics in this album are penned by En Ismail Ahmed, also known as Adiwangsa Sukma, who also lends his own voice for the songs in this album, both solo numbers and through duet numbers with USIM’s entertainment artist, Siso Kopratasa. This album is sold at the price of RM15.00, with 25% of the total monthly sales contributed to HKL Kids Cancer.
Pantun Collection Pocket Book comprise a collection of 123 pantuns (Malay traditional poems). It can be described as an innovative and fresh literary work intended to engage society through poetic literature written by USIM’s artists, Ahmad Fedtri Yahya and Siso Kopratasa. This book is suitable for society’s use, especially those who often attend formal ceremonies such as engagements, weddings and corporate functions. Even more special are the inclusion of poems about traditional medicine and the performance of Umrah and Haj. It is being sold at the price of RM10.00.
