Background of the Programme

  1. After completion of the study a student will be awarded with Master of Computer Science in Information and Security Assurance via mixed mode [MCompSc (Information and Security Assurance)
  2. The total credit for the Program is 43 credit. The program will be conducted fully in English. The mode of study could be either on fulltime or part-time basis.
  3. The program consists of 50% taught subjects and 50% on research. The first 50% is considered as course work that consists of lectures, tutorials, assignments, presentation by students, guided and independent studies.
  4. The duration of study is 18 months or three semesters for fulltime students and 24 months or four semesters for part-time students.

 

Objectives of the Programme

The main objective of the programme Masters Computer Science (Information Security and Assurance) is to produce graduates with knowledge, skills and ability to integrate the knowledge of software engineering and information technology into computer science knowledge (especialy in the field of Information Security and Assurance) considering the aspects of ethics and social responsibilities.

The Master of Computer Science Programmme in Information Security and Assurance will ensure that the following objectives and  aims are fulfilled:   

  1. To produce graduates that can integrate and apply the knolwedge and experience in Information Security and Assurance for producing good quality research besides giving good services to government sectors, educational sector, research organization and sectors in information technology and communications locally and globally.    
  2. To produce graduates that are able to lead and involved in team work for solving problem and be able to dessiminate new knowledge in their field and outside their fileds through their ability to communicate effectively.
  3. To produce graduates that are always try to improve their knowledge and ability with the ICT as enabler to generate bussiness opportunities in education sector, research organization and information and communication technology sector locally and globally.   
  4. To produce graduates that are able to practice esthetics values and professionalism in giving services to educationa sectors, research organization and informationm and communication sector locally and globally.

ENGLISH PLACEMENT TEST

Applicants are COMPULSORY to obtain a score of at least 510 in TOEFL (paper based) or 180 in TOEFL (computer based) or 64 in TOEFL (internet based) or Band 5 in IELTS or Band 3 in MUET as summarize in the fallowing table:

Pemohon yang tidak memenuhi salah satu keperluan di atas dikehendaki untuk mengambil Ujian Bahasa Inggeris (English Placement Test) dan perlu mencapai sekurang-kurangnya Band 3 sebelum dibenarkan untuk mendaftar sesi pengajian.

 

ARABIC PLACEMENT TEST

Pemohon juga dikehendaki membuktikan kelayakan atau penguasaan Bahasa Arab yang memuaskan dan mengemukakan bukti penguasaan bahasa bersama-sama borang permohonan.

Ujian bahasa iaitu Arabic Placement Test akan diadakan selepas pelajar mendaftar. Pemohon yang belum memenuhi syarat penguasaan Bahasa Arab dikehendaki mendaftar dan lulus kursus Bahasa Arab dalam tempoh pengajian.

Kursus Bahasa  Arab yang diambil ini adalah bertujuan sebagai pra-syarat sahaja dan tidak dikira di dalam gred akademik pelajar

  1. A relevant bachelor degree with honours with a CGPA of 2.75 and above from USIM;
    or
  2. A relevant bachelor degree with honours recognised by the Senate with achievements as follows:
    (a) Jayyid, or
    (b) CGPA of 2.75/4.00 and above, or
    (c) CGPA of 3.50/5.00 and above, or
    (d) overall marks of 60% and above;

    or
  3. A relevant bachelor degree from USIM or any other institutions of higher learning recognised by the Senate with the following grades AND at least five (5) years of relevant work experience after the degree:
    (a) Makbul, or
    (b) CGPA less than 2.75/4.00 but more than 2.50/4.00, or
    (c) CGPA less than 3.50/5.00 but more than 3.00/5.00, or
    (d) overall marks less than 60% but more than 50%;

    or
  4. Other qualifications equivalent to a bachelor degree with honours AND relevant professional work experience;
    or
  5. A relevant advanced diploma with CGPA 2.75/4.00 and above from institutions of higher learning recognised by the Senate AND with at least five (5) years of relevant work experience;
    or
  6. A relevant advanced diploma with CGPA 2.50/4.00 and above from institutions of higher learning recognised by the Senate AND with at least ten (10) years of  relevant work experience.

Health Requirement for International Student Registration
