USIM is perhaps best-known of its enduring history of knowledge integrationin education
The establishment of USIM was started in 1998 in which the discussion on the establishment of the fully government Islamic University. The establishment elevates the quality of Islamic studies at a high level in this country.
1998 - Establishment of KUIM
On June 11, 1997, the Cabinet approved the establishment of KUIM and its establishment has been gazetted on March 13, 1998.
1999 - First Vice Chancellor
Vice Chancellor YBhg. Tan Sri Prof. Dato ‘Dr. Abdul Shukor Hj. Husin has been entrusted with forming a new university in 1999. Also helping him in the daunting task and this challenge is Y.B. Dato’ Dr. Abdullah Mohamad Zin.
2000 - First admission of students
The first enrolment for KUIM began on June 18, 2000 in a temporary location at Institut Professional Baitulmal, Kuala Lumpur.
2002 - Moved to Pandan Indah Campus
In January 2002, KUIM moved again to another temporary campus in Tower A and B, Persiaran MPAJ, Pandan Indah at Kuala Lumpur. Until now, this campus still operated as Faculty of Dentistry.
2005 - Moved to Nilai Campus
On July 15, 2005, KUIM moved to its permanent campus at Nilai, while the medical faculty remained at Kuala Lumpur.
2007 - Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia
To further enhance the image KUIM internationally, KUIM been converted into Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) on 1st February 2007. Now USIM continue to drive success in the areas of teaching, research and writing. Campus Development continues to give comfort to the students and faculty to go further especially the core areas of Islamic studies.
