SABAH, Jan 15, 2017- 32 students from the Secretariat of Faculty of Science and Technology (SekreFaST) Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) has offered their services to the Muslim community at Kg. Kilimu, Ranau, Sabah. They also organised an educational trip to Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).

The Programme Director, Muhammad Akid Hafriz said that among the significant activities conducted with villagers are Islamic medication theraphy by Man Ana Therapy Centre, which they have learned the right acupuncture and cupping techniques; besides cleaned up (gotong royong) the village and surau in that area.

“We think that this visit has been a great platform for us to explore new medication techniques despite the conventional medication from hospital and other traditional medications,” said a representative from the village. The village accommodates around 30% Muslim minority and about 70% of them are the non-Muslims.

While the visit to UMS on the third day has been a great opportunity for USIM and UMS students to network, exchange ideas and information for the benefits of both.

“It is hoped that the sharing session with UMS can generate many new ideas on how to conduct and manage student activities in USIM,”explained Hannan, a representative from the Student Society of Faculty of Science and Natural Resources, UMS.

The last activity of the trip is a visit to Sekolah Rendah Islam, Kota Kinabalu, where participants have conducted activities in Science and History subjects for Standard 3 and 5 pupils. The integration of Naqli and Aqli is highlighted in the activities with the hope that USIM’s aspiration is exposed to the pupils.
