NILAI, February 15, 2016 – More than five different menus each day can be enjoyed by USIM’s community after the Launch of Ihtimam Menu by the Vice Chancellor, YBhg. Prof. Dato ‘Dr Musa Ahmad located in Cafeteria at Student Affairs Building, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM).

The launching ceremony was attended by over 50 people among the students and staffs and it shows the diligence by the University Management to handle pressing issue in the social media and the press about complaints where students who had to go starve because of financial difficulties.

Owner of D’Sara Catering (USIM Cafe Chancellery), Mrs. Anisah Ibrahim said the fixed price is RM 1.50 for a full breakfast menu, while only RM 3 for a lunch menu and this is cannot be found anywhere now. Ihtimam menu can be enjoyed in the USIM Chancellery Building cafeteria, Student Affairs Building and USIM Library.

“We emphasize the principle of doing business while practicing. Through Ihtimam menu or this budget menu we offer the lowest prices and affordable to customers. What is more important is the quality of customer tastes, “says Ms. Anisah.

Meanwhile, Dato’ Musa said Ihtimam menu is an initiative by the University Management for the welfare of students after the decision that demands for a practical and sustainable actions and thus they coming out with this solution.

“It is hoped that this action plan will help students that are on a tight budget and has little to spend on their daily food, and this initiative show concern without distinguishing university student or not as this facility is also open to USIM staff to enjoy the facilities,” said the Vice-Chancellor.

In his speech, Dato’ Musa also encourages students to work on campus in part-time to enhance soft skills and at the same time receive remuneration from the job. Students can also engage in entrepreneurial activities as a way to develop talents in financial management and themselves.

For Imran Razalle, President of the Student Representative Council, the launching of Ihtimam menu is a good effort from the Division of Student Affairs in collaboration with D’Sara catering.

“This reflects the Management of University do care about students’ welfare and hardship faced by students. USIM Student Representative Council welcomes the cooperation of various parties, corporate bodies, private persons or departments who are willing to contribute to the welfare of the students. In this way, he hope the initiatives will be able to ease the burden of student life in this gripping era, “he described.

Also present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor HEP, Y.Bhg Prof. Dato’ Dr. Hassan Basri Awang Mat Dahan, Head of department, Student Representative Council, International Student Society (ISS) and the USIM staff.
