NILAI, August 1, 2018 – The #DarihatiUSIM Programme organized by USIM’s Centre of Community Engagement and Industrial Networking was conducted with the objective to cultivate a caring society.

The theme of the programme is to engage with the society. It is one initiative for USIM to partake in activities involving the society and to connect USIM with communities in nearby areas.

#DarihatiUSIM Programme started in June with a #DariHati campaign which involved activities of collecting clothes and used items that were donated by USIM’s staff. It was conducted during the holy month of Ramadhan as an initiative to help orphans, single mothers, the less privileged and communities near USIM that are in need.

Thirty people from USIM’s neighbouring residential areas who attended the programme had the opportunity to choose their own clothes. A range of shirts, trousers, children’s clothes and babywear were among clothes that were displayed at Dewan Tuanku Canselor USIM.

A dialogue session with the Vice-Chancellor of USIM and Head of the Communities was also held in conjunction with the programme to discuss arising issues with concerns to the society. The chief of five residential areas nearby USIM attended the dialogue session to share current issues involving its residence and society.

This programme is a good platform for to USIM to engage with the locals and keep abreast with current social issues.
