NILAI,  September 30,  2019 – The desire to inculcate the pride of being a Malaysian citizen is being translated through a series of exciting programs during the 2019 National Month Celebration (Sambutan Bulan Kebangsaan) Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) level.

USIM Vice-Chancellor at the Closing Ceremony of the National Month Celebration 2019, said the involvement of various age groups and departments in the parade showed the unfaded spirit of patriotism and nationalism among USIM citizens.

“The meaning of independence is not just the cry of ” Merdeka” but to understand, appreciate and translate it in daily life, that is more important,” he said.

“In support of this year’s national theme,” Sayangi Malaysiaku: Malaysia Bersih “which emphasizes the spirit of unity and love of the nation, we as citizens should be fortunate to live in this sovereign and independent country,” he added.

According to him, living in a peaceful, harmonious and prosperous environment achieved after independence is a priceless blessing for a more comfortable life.

Therefore, he urged the citizens of USIM to appreciate the peace and prosperity achieved by adopting tolerance in inter-racial relations and avoiding elements that could break the unity that has been built for so long.

“Learn from history and value our cultural heritage so that our values remain intact to enable us to build a respected and respected nation,” he added.

In the same ceremony during the National Month Forum with Wira Negara (National Hero), YBhg Tan Sri Dato ‘JJ Raj, 98, Former Pagoh Police Chief and 77-year-old PDRM Retired Senior Officer YBhg Dato’ Wong Pui Lam, shared his experience and memory of how they faced communist threats before obtaining the country’s independence.

The ceremony, which was also attended by the University’s top management, celebrated the champion parade contingent of the Registrar’s Department, second place by the Treasurer’s Department while the third was the combined PTJ of Tamhidi, IFFAH, ISI and PPT. For the contenders in the student category, SMAP LABU won first place followed by SMK Desa Cempaka while third place was won by Sek Men Agama Nilai.
