NILAI – Two students from the Faculty of Quranic and Sunnah Studies (FPQS) at the Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) have been tasked with leading the tarawih prayers in Osaka, Japan, throughout Ramadan month.
Wan Ahmad Mujahid Wan Fajrulhisyam and Nik Ahmad Nik Aziz, both pursuing a Bachelor of Quranic Studies with Honours, are currently undergoing their Industrial Training at the Japan Da’wah Centre (JDC). They departed for Japan on March 10, 2024, to serve as guest imams for the tarawih prayers during Ramadan at two locations, alternating between the Japan Da’wah Centre and the Osaka Islamic Centre.
Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Sharifudin Md Shaarani, Vice Chancellor of USIM, expressed immense pride in the USIM students being selected to lead the tarawih prayers in Japan. This highlights USIM’s ability to produce internationally recognized graduates in the field of Islamic studies, in line with USIM’s philosophy of integrating Naqli (revealed knowledge) and Aqli (rational knowledge).
“This invaluable opportunity will be fully utilized to gather knowledge and life experiences that will serve the community in the future, Insha-Allah. Please pray for me to successfully fulfil this responsibility and be eased,” said Mujahid.
“I am excited and honoured to challenge myself in a foreign country, certainly stepping out of my comfort zone. I hope to always be in good health, Insha-Allah, so I can serve and contribute to Islam while I am here in Osaka, Japan,” added Nik Ahmad.
They will spend 40 days in Osaka and are expected to return to Malaysia on April 20, 2024, to complete their Industrial Training at the USIM Islamic Centre.
