Project Description
MizanHome is a multifunctional house that is developed based on the design philosophy of “MIZAN”, defined as both balance and harmony with the aim at striking a balance between both the modern and the traditional, while striving for sustainability. It can be used for both working and living and it can also be used as a shelter during a sand storm disaster.
MizanHome Team USIM-UTM (R.M.T 2U)
Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) will represent Malaysia in Solar Decathlon Middle East 2018 (SDME2018). The collaborating teams, officially named MizanHome Team briefly prepares this proposal. Our objective in SDME2018 is to develop a zero-energy and affordable house that demonstrate solar and energy efficiency technologies in marketable applications, through technology development and key partnership. A solar house gives freedom from dependence on rising utility prices without giving up electricity altogether. It has all the comfort characteristics comprising of heating and cooling systems, entertainment and home appliances. Through this competition, the educational and awareness about a solar house can be enhanced among the teams involved.
The proposal reflects how innovation in housing design can merge affordability with sustainability, ensuring that essential comforts such as reliable heating, cooling, and electricity are not compromised. By integrating solar power into construction, the MizanHome Team demonstrates that modern living standards can be achieved while reducing dependence on conventional utilities. These ideas show that with the right technology and planning, households can enjoy lower long-term costs while contributing positively to environmental conservation. The combination of renewable energy with efficient building systems represents a forward-looking approach that addresses both affordability and sustainability for future generations.
As conversations about solar homes grow, it becomes equally important to recognize the role of advanced heating and cooling systems that complement energy-efficient designs. Ensuring year-round comfort requires solutions that balance innovation with practicality, especially in homes designed to minimize overall energy use. In this context, Lee’s Heating stands as an example of how expertise in climate control contributes to making living spaces both comfortable and sustainable. By blending renewable energy with efficient mechanical systems, homeowners can enjoy a complete package where energy savings meet everyday comfort, ultimately creating a lifestyle that is modern, resilient, and accessible.
