Nilai, 11 March 2019 – USIM Cultural Centre had laid out a new strategy by appointing new Deputy Director and Unit Leaders to enhance management governance in the Cultural Centre without involving any new role creation.

According to Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) of USIM, Prof Madya Dr. Mohd Rushdan Mohd Jailani, the appointment of Deputy Director and Unit Leader in the Cultural Centre is viewed to be more dynamic for rebranding purposes and also serves as a new boost for all who had been appointed to their respective positions to uphold their responsibilities to their utmost capacity.

This assignment is also an initiative for the Cultural Centre who has been showing stellar commitment in efforts to uphold and promote USIM’s good name through cultural activities and programs. Therefore, USIM management hopes that the Cultural Centre will position themselves at par with other higher education institutions’ cultural centres, he added.

USIM management also hopes that the appointment will provide a good new start to the Cultural Centre to increase their efforts to enhance their capability and achievement to a higher level through their output, creativity, impact, and contribution to USIM and the community,” Dr. Mohd Rushdan said.

“In the future, maybe USIM will consider the requirement to create a new role in the Cultural Centre if they can prove a high level of excellence and contribution to USIM and the community through high impact programs and activities,” he added. “Furthermore, USIM management has seen extraordinary growth at the Cultural Centre where many high impact programs with commercial values had been organised despite their small number of staffs.”

According to the Director of USIM Cultural Centre, En. Ismail Ahmed, the 3-year appointments for the new Deputy Director and Unit Leaders is a step to reinforce each unit and to encourage them to focus on their respective units by working in a more organised and systematic manner.

“I am very touched by the support given by USIM management, which had turned my aspiration into a reality. I hope that the university management will continue to support all activities and programs organised by the Cultural Centre so that the arts programs with cultural values will be well-received and will also contribute even more to the success of USIM,” he added.

In another development, USIM Cultural Centre is also making an effort to register their products such as USIM Street Dakwah and album production with MyIPO Malaysia in order to protect their copyrights.

The appointments of the Unit Leaders are in accordance with the decision made in University Management Meeting on 7 February 2019. The Deputy Director and Unit Leaders appointed are En. Mohamad Akmal bin Razali, Deputy Director of USIM Cultural Centre and Head of Activities, Multimedia, and Arts Entrepreneurship Development Unit; Puan Rozihani Mohamad, Head of Documentatian and Creative Production Management Unit; Puan Arohiyah Abdullah, Head of Arts Performance Unit; and En.
