NILAI, March 17, 2023 – Tamhidi Center of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) sent the most significant contingents this year to the Sukan Asasi Malaysia (SAM) to show the determination to glorify the university name.
Tamhidi Center’s contingent to SAM, which entered its organization’s fifth edition, consists of 118 athletes and 22 officials. Held at the Foundation Center of the International Islamic University of Malaysia (UIAM) Gambang, Pahang, from 17 to March 19, 2023, Tamhidi USIM sent entries to compete in nine sports events.
Futsal, netball, volleyball, badminton, e-sports, and athletics are among the participating events. Setting the target to dominate the medal collection in athletic events, as the preparation, Tamhidi athletes also received training and guidance from special coaches provided by the Sports Center.
The USIM Flag Handover Ceremony to athletes and contingent leaders for the SAM 2023 tournament was held on Thursday, March 16, at the Tunku Najihah Sports Complex. Meanwhile, a special session with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Professor Dr. Mohd Adnan Yusof, was also arranged on Friday, March 17, before the athletes and officials left for Gambang.
In his mandate, he also expressed his appreciation to the Tamhidi Center, the Sports Center, and all those who helped prepare the athletes for the tournament.
“In addition to chasing championships and giving great competition in every event, I would like to advise all athletes to show good behavior and be role models while there, respect and uphold the university’s good name,” said Professor Dr. Mohd Adnan. Good luck, Tamhidi athletes!
