NILAI – The Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) through its Bursary Department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB) in support of a joint project that will impact both institutions.
BIMB is the first and foremost Islamic banking financial institution in Malaysia, constantly striving to enhance and strengthen cooperation programs that have taken various initiatives to improve the excellence of the Islamic banking industry.
This cooperation focuses on promoting the opening of Bank Islam accounts, aiming for a 10% increase in registered users with Bank Islam this year.
Zamree Mohamed, Director of Retail Banking and Distribution, BIMB, said that USIM, as a strategic partner, can assist in disseminating information related to this account opening to the public and will receive incentives through it.
“Initiatives like this are our way of appreciating our strategic partners who have supported us throughout nearly 41 years of operation.”
“The cooperative relationship between USIM and Bank Islam has been long-established since 2012. Various initiatives have been implemented to develop, support, and enrich the development of research and education in fields that will benefit both parties,” said the Vice-Chancellor of USIM at the event.
He added that the cooperative relationship built would generate more opportunities and spaces in various fields and would further strengthen the relationship between the university and the industry.
“The new era university not only plays a role in developing the curriculum and academic framework but also needs to be more creative in creating an ecosystem that supports a good relationship between the university and the industry,” he further stated.
The MoU signing ceremony was officiated by Prof. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Sharifudin Md Shaarani, Vice-Chancellor of USIM, together with Mr. Zamree Mohamed, Director of Retail Banking and Distribution, BIMB. Also present at the ceremony were members of the University Management Committee (JKPU) and several representatives from BIMB.
