NILAI,  May 29, 2019- In conjunction with ’Program Santunan Ramadan’ featuring free petrol refueling and iftar distribution activities for motorcycles below 150cc, which is a collaboration between USIM’s Pusat Wakaf dan Zakat (PWZ) and Bandar Baru Nilai Petronas Station, Petronas Mesra Stores have also contributed 20 boxes of food products to needy USIM students as Ramadan Infaq. The contribution is a collective effort from several Petronas Mesra Stores around Cheras, Semenyih, and Nilai, or known as Trading Area 16 (TA 16).

The food donation which is comprised of biscuits, bread, snacks, and drinks, will be made available in Kompleks Islam Tunku Muhriz, a popular spot for students to pray and rest after their lectures.

Encik Harith Ashraf Zulemran, Territory Manager for TA 16, Central Zone 3, said that this program would be meaningful for students because there are indeed a segment of them who come from low-income families and struggle to buy food for themselves.

”We hope that collaborations like this can help to ease their burden and can be continued in the future, with USIM being so close to Bandar Baru Nilai Petronas Station and the support of loyal customers from USIM staffs to us very much valued.”

USIM Vice Chancellor Prof. Dato’ Dr. Musa Ahmad also expressed his gratitude and recognition to Petronas and USIM’s Pusat Wakaf dan Zakat (PWZ) for their collaborative efforts in organizing the free petrol refueling and iftar distribution for motorcyles below 150cc programs for the second time.

”I hope that there will be other CSR projects in the planning, that will make use of the expertise of USIM staffs,” Dato’ Musa added.

An estimated 400 motorcycle riders around Nilai were involved as the lucky recipients of the donations.

During the event, a mini Petronas library inside the Mesra Store was also officiated. It is a reading corner featuring many books for store customers to read and browse through including those published by USIM and written by USIM lecturers.

’Program Santunan Ramadan’ has also received cooperation and assistance from USIM’s Pusat Islam and Strategic Communication Centre (StraComm), as well as students from the   International Student’s Association (INSAN) .

Also present during the event were Puan Mariani Basri, Bandar Baru Nilai Petronas Station Owner; Dato’ Hj Mohd Abd Rasid Mohd Fadzil, USIM Bursar; Dr. Mushaddad Hasbullah, Director of PWZ USIM; Dr. Hayati Ismail, Director of StraComm, and Encik Mohammad Aizuddin Abdul Aziz, Director of Pusat Islam.
