NILAI, January 08, 2018 – Wishing you and the rest of your family … SEJAHTERA NEW YEAR 2018. Many thanks for your valued support and trust throughout the year 2017. They are our driving force to keep us moving forward. WE promise to work harder and will strive to further improve.
Even though, the concept and philosophy of Sejahtera Leadership Initiative (SLI) that enshrines more than one decade of aspiration and effort to hold up the community and institutions in Malaysia and elsewhere; however, its inception was formalised in January 2017. Since then our SLI has been pursuing an important and compelling goal: to be referent interest group in support of citizen initiatives worldwide, offering a significant ‘balanced well-being’ programmes and projects or even ‘co-existing with common shared values for peace, harmony and sustainable development goals (SDGs)’.
During the 12 months of its formal existence, SLI has become a growing think-tank group with its Founding Convener, Professor Tan Sri  Dzulkifli Abdul Razak who is the Ministry of Higher Education’s 11th National Academic Icon Awardee and Chairperson of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) together with the team constantly engaging various interest parties through written works, undertaking research and consultation or speaking engagements at seminars and providing and advisory services. At the same time developing hands-on modules and facilitating Sejahtera training programmes, leading to cooperation arrangements with complementary regional organisations and increasing SLI representation beyond Malaysia.

2017 was indeed a busy year for SLI with milestones aplenty to its contribution with public and private universities, government ministries, relevant NGOs in Malaysia. As for the year’s achievements on its international activities, some highly important events, projects and programs undertaken by SLI to significantly increase graduate students, Gen Y & Z youth and public awareness of sejahtera leadership could be highlighted as follows:

The action of SLI, and consequently the international recognition achieved, are aimed to support the development of sejahtera framework, particularly reaching the consensus for a holistic approach, based on its ultimate mission: To integrate the macro-microcosmic nexus of balanced well-being leadership with universal consciousness. Grounded on SLI core values: Humility, Mutual Respect, Balanced Co-Existence it envision to: Nurturing a holistic human-centric and balanced well-being leadership towards living in a harmoniously peaceful society that will guide SLI’s action in the next future, determined to combine the converging forces of citizens’ initiative, related institutions and the international organisations.      

In all, 2017 is a defining year for SLI given the warm and encouraging rapport from various partners. On this journey, it sets the stage for the coming year in translating sejahtera into more in-depth activities beginning with the 1st Borneo Conference on Quality of Life, 24-25th January 2018 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Looking ahead, let’s move forward hand in hand to create a balanced future together through sejahtera with passion and purpose. We will be proactive and creative with our friendships, social circle and international connections on teaching methods for the 21st century learners.
