The objective of this Brainstorming Round-table for new visioning process was to capitalize participants’ different talents, knowledge, strengths and perspectives to look back at SLI history, anticipate future issues and challenges. The discussions did help participants to see things in a broader context and solved problems that once seemed insoluble in the ever increasingly complex living environments and constant disruptive technology. Recognizing this, it is imperative that students should be equipped with the leadership skills and positive attitude towards change. Thus, Sejahtera education and training need to be holistic, covering both knowledge and mindsets. Greater emphasis is placed on collaboration as an effective team player, critical and analytical thinking, problem solving skills, strong imagination with full of creative and innovative ideas.

Professor Tan Sri Dzulkifli restated that, “SLI is a citizens’ initiative that enshrines more than one decade of aspiration and effort to hold up the community and institutions in Malaysia and elsewhere. Embedded within is a strong positive impulse on the lives and writings of world’s great ancient and modern thought of “outstanding” leaders in both purity and practicality. It is therefore a contemporary adaption from the perennial corpus of universal psycho-philosophical wisdom that is pervasive throughout humanity in consonant with sustainable development goals.

“Sejahtera is an indigenous concept of cosmic proportion in this region that could be traced back to some Sanskrit words like ‘Sadhya, Sudotra, Sasastra’. As such, quality of life is generally understood as the state of well-being that is beyond the measure of material wealth, but include health and happiness as well as wellness. It is not to be confused with “quality of living” which is largely limited to merely economic imperatives alone. This has shifted the emphasis of human being development towards lifelong learning for both academic staff and students alike. At SLI, we must constantly updating material to deliver fresh, current and futuristic relevant knowledge for the leaders of tomorrow,” Tan Sri Dzul said.

Dr. Hayati Ismail as the Leader of Rapporteurs Team will be compiling the report on full proceedings of this 1st Brainstorming Round-table Dialogue. Going forward, SLI priority is being sensitive to the needs and wants of future leaders in the ever emerging disruptive technologies.
