BACKGROUND

This study identifies the limitations period convert set by the States in Malaysia and identify the index measure for determination of the appropriate period of limitation apply to convert in Malaysia. The study suggests a limit period of up to eight (8) years to measure the understanding, strengthening and stability of one’s Islamic convert by looking at an individual’s transition period from the age of puberty mumayyiz so that a period of learning and understanding knowledge of religion before Islam put the responsibility completely to on the individual. Determining an index measuring the conversion period had in Malaysia is important to distinguish the truly understand Islam convert which would help in terms of consistency channeling of aid distribution of zakat for converts.
