NILAI, March 27, 2018 – Entering the age of 15 years establishment in Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) continues to create distinguish achievements at national and international levels. Instituted in 2003, it offers science-based academic programs amalgamated with Islamic studies to underline the elements of Islamic Science knowledge.

In conjunction with the 15th anniversary of its establishment, FST held a special event, “FST’s 15th Celebration – ‘Bridging Science and Society’” which was officiated by YAM Tunku Besar Seri Menanti Tunku Ali Redhauddin Ibni Tuanku Muhriz as the USIM’s Pro-Chancellor.

Currently, FST has a total of 1,622 undergraduate and 193 postgraduate students from Malaysia and other international countries. On top of that, this faculty has 89% of the 98 academic staff with Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in various disciplines.

“In line with the development of USIM in research and innovation, FST is one of the major contributors. It can be seen in its active involvement in research, obtained internal and external research awards as well as the excellent record of FST’s academician publication. ”

“For instance, researchers at FST have successfully introduced USIM at the international level as when they have been awarded with the Gold & Diamond for International Invention of the Year at the British Invention Show (BIS) 2017.”

“Recently at the Islamic Innovation Expo (i-INOVA), two major awards for undergraduate categories; Al-Khawarizmi Award through Lab In A Box products, and the Islamic Innovation Award through ARSOM products which is Arabic Sign Language Learning Android Apps Using Augmented Reality, won by FST,” said USIM Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Dr. Musa Ahmad.

Also, at this event, YAM Tunku Ali Redhauddin has solemnized a book of, The Integration of Naqli and Aqli, published by FST. He also officiated a special café by the faculty, Bake N Brew Café. The café would be a very good revenue for the faculty as well as it offers as a place of practical training for its students.

In addition, the inauguration of STREAM Laboratory (Science, Technology, Religiosity, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) would be the first in Negeri Sembilan and was officiated by YAM Tunku Ali Redhauddin. As it is opened for public to visit, it will be particularly interesting for school students to try out various interactive exhibitions and experiments.

Significantly, there are numbers of high-impact events that will be organized this year by FST namely; the World Science Day, the Science Camp, the National Islamic Science Seminar, the Aturkreatives, the ICT Click and the FST Alumni Dinner.
