NILAI, May 30, 2017 – In conjunction with the auspicious month of Ramadan on 4 Ramadan 1438H, Prof Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, Chairman of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and spouse Puan Sri Masrah Abidin visited the newly-built Muslim Prayer House located on grounds of the diplomatic enclave of the Philippines Embassy at No.1, Jalan Changkat Kia Peng in Kuala Lumpur.

On behalf of USIM Vice Chancellor, Prof Dato’ Dr Musa Ahmad, management, faculty and staffers, Tan Sri Dzulkifli and Puan Sri Masrah presented varieties of material such as Yassin, Islamic books, prayer mats, telekong for muslimah etc including some cash dedicated for the usage prayers at the Embassy’s Surau. The consignment was received by Consul Johann and Attache Shamina Saidamen.

The stand alone Surau is a newly-built structure adjoining to Chancellery Building was inaugurated by former Ambassador J. Eduardo Malaya on 4 April 2017 as he concluded his successful five-and-a-half year of diplomatic assignment in Malaysia. It was indeed a legend and historic that for the first time since the Embassy establishment almost 60 years ago, Muslim Embassy diplomats, staffers, guests and visitors have a proper place to perform ‘solat’ during working hours and functions.

In his brief remarks whilst presenting USIM sedekah to the Philippines diplomats, Tan Sri Dzulkifli said, “This sedekah is not one-off from USIM community. We would like to treat it as Adopted Surau of USIM. We will from time to time provide more reading materials on Islamic philosophy etc that even non-Muslim can borrow and read it. This Surau is a bridge between the community at Philippines Embassy with USIM to enhance our knowledge of co-existence relationship for global peace.”

Also present to witness the historic occasion were former Libyan Ambassador to Malaysia, Dr. Bubaker Almansori.
