TANJUNG MALIM, August 12, 2018 – As a result of close collaboration among the management, staff and trainees of Kor Sukarelawan Polis Siswa Siswi (Suksis), USIM’s Kor Suksis received the Special Award of Inspector-General of Police for the Public University’s Kor Suksis 2018 category. This achievement also retained last year’s excellence as they had received the same award. The prize was presented by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Muhammad Fuzi Harun to USIM’s Kor Suksis Commandant, Professor Dato Dr Hassan Basri Awang Mat Dahan.

The award was presented in conjunction with the Training Completion Parade Ceremony and Delivery of the 14th Public University Suksis Officer Certificate of Appointment at the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris on Sunday (12 August). At this event, a total of 1285 Kor Suksis trainees from 19 Public Universities including 68 USIM students were commissioned and received their respective certificates as Police Volunteer Inspectors from the Inspector-General of Police.

Inspector-General of Police in his speech hoped that members of the Kor Suksis who completed the training will be excellent graduates who are skilful and disciplined, as well as knowledgeable in law as they will be the generation to lead the country in the future.

“I am confident and believe that the Kor Suksis UA will become a catalyst towards creating Malaysia as a safe and secure country and helps PDRM,” he added.

The commissioning ceremony was also very meaningful for three USIM Kor Suksis trainees who were chosen to receive awards for their excellence. Muhammad Hakimi Ghazali, a Bachelor of Fiqh and Fatwa student was selected as the Overall Best Trainee while Muhammad Syafiq Abdullah, a Bachelor of Actuarial Science and Risk Management student was awarded with the Best Outside Training Trainee award. In addition, the Best Trainee award for Academic Training was received by Muhamad Nur Fitri Mat Rani who is majoring in Islamic Banking and Finance.

For Muhammad Hakimi, his election as the Overall Best Trainee was unexpected and he was very delighted to receive it. “Alhamdulillah, always listening to instructor’s instructions and do the best in the assignments given have made me fortunate enough to receive this award,” he said.

“I, represent the University Management, am very proud with the success of USIM’s Kor Suksis and the students today, as a result of the high commitment and discipline that they had always given throughout their training.”

“The success of this commissioning was also due to the close collaboration by our Kor Suksis’ management consisting of coordinating officers, honorary officers and most importantly trainers who shared their experience and knowledge with the trainees,” commented Professor Dato Dr Hassan Basri Awang Mat Dahan who is also USIM’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni).

USIM’s 10th Commission ceremony this year marks that 574 Police Volunteer Inspectors were born by USIM since the first group’s commission in 2006. In addition to the policing module prescribed, USIM’s Kor Suksis students are also active in the abroad community service program under Global Islamic Student Outreach (GISO) as well as participating in various major programs in universities including the Convocation Ceremony, security, parade and programs organized by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).
