NILAI, Jun 3, 2020 – Former Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Hj Musa Tan Sri Hj Hassan has been appointed to the new Board of Directors of the Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). He has been appointed by YB Dato’ Dr. Noraini Ahmad, the Minister of Higher Education for three years effective from 15th May 2020 to 14th May 2023.
He served as the 8th Inspector-General of Police from 12th November 2006 until 12th September 2010, having been appointed to the USIM Board of Directors in accordance with Section 17 (1) (f) of the USIM Constitution (Knowledgeable and Experienced Representative).
He started his service in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) as a Trainee Inspector in 1969. He held various positions throughout his service in PDRM before being selected as the Inspector-General of Police. Some of his positions are including Assistant Director of Prosecution/Legal, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Bukit Aman (1995), Deputy Director I of CID Bukit Aman (2001), Johor Police Chief (2003), Director of CID Bukit Aman (2004); and Deputy Inspector-General of Police (2005).
The university management is delighted with the appointment due to Tan Sri Musa Hassan’s broad experience which may contribute significantly to USIM’s greater academic and organisational achievements. This is especially in achieving the 2022 USIM Mission to become a High Impact Glocal Islamic science university. It also fulfills the government’s aspiration in making Malaysia a centre of regional and international education excellence.
