THAILAND – A delegation of 8 members from the Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), led by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Adnan Mohamed Yusoff, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), conducted a visit to several universities in Southern Thailand including Prince Songkla University, Fatoni University, and Yala Rajabhat University from 14 to 18 February 2024. Also accompanying the visit was Dato’ Muhammad Haizuan Rozali, the Registrar of USIM.
Prof. Dato’ Dr. Adnan Mohamed Yusoff said the visit planned by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor’s Office (Student Affairs and Alumni) in collaboration with the Student Affairs Center and the Registrar’s Office aimed to open new avenues of cooperation not only in the aspect of character development of students but also in various other areas such as academics and sports to enhance the knowledge of USIM students, especially through international experiences.
USIM delegation had the opportunity to meet with the management of each university and discuss the direction of cooperation in implementing the Global Islamic Students Outreach (GISO) volunteer program, cultural exchanges, and sports. In addition, the discussions also touched on cooperation in terms of academic development including student and staff exchanges.
What made the visit even more interesting was when Prof. Dato’ Dr. Adnan Mohamed Yusoff had the opportunity to deliver the Friday sermon at Yala Rajabhat University. The delegation also visited a village in Narathiwat called Ban Blukasnor, which will be the location of the GISO Perdana program by USIM in August 2024.
Prof. Dato’ Dr. Adnan Mohamed Yusoff said the results of this visit will be presented at the University Management Committee (JKPU) Meeting and will be implemented throughout 2024.
“HEPA is very committed to ensuring that the student empowerment agenda can be implemented in a structured and high-impact manner. I also hope that the implementation of the GISO Perdana this year will be more beneficial as a result of the cooperation of several universities that have expressed their willingness to collaborate in the program,” he added.
