NILAI, 17 April 2019 –  The Centre for Awqaf and Zakat (PWZ) of the Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM) took an initiative to aid those in need through a Free Petrol Filling programme at the Petronas Bandar Baru Nilai Station yesterday evening.

With the theme “Sumbangan Anda, Untuk Mereka” (Your Contribution, For Them), the programme received a good response from the Petronas Bandar Baru Nilai, USIM students, and nearby Nilai residents. More than 300 motorcyclists did not pass up the opportunity and turned up at the petrol station that evening.

”Petrol is a basic necessity in today’s life. This programme can help to alleviate the burden of the needy groups and PWZ can fulfil the wishes of the contributors in assisting the community”.

“As the organiser, we expect such programmes to be organised every year to fulfil the wishes of PWZ contributors and to motivate more organisations and individuals to contribute to PWZ to help alleviate the burden of USIM’s staff and students as well as the local community. It is PWZ’s wishes that more organisations and individuals would contribute to USIM through PWZ so more people in need can be helped, said Dr. Mushaddad Hasbullah, PWZ USIM Director.

Meanwhile, the Petronas station owner Puan Mariani bt Basri said, cooperative programmes like this are very good and the petrol station management is very pleased to be selected in the CSR project as well as to collaborate with PWZ USIM. They are also planning various other collaborative programmes that will benefit USIM students.

”I heard of this programme from my friends and I am thankful to the organisers and hope to be able to join some other programme of this kind in the future,” expressed Danish Hud Amiruddin, 22, a resident of Desa Kasia.

”I am grateful to USIM for organising this kind of programme and as an USIM student, I hope there will be similar programmes in the future”, said Fara Asfarina Mohd Jaafar, 21, from Taman Desa Anggerik.

As for Arham Rahaimi, 22, the Faculty of Syariah and Law student expressed his gratitude because the programme is really helpful for the needy ones, especially students like him, who really require helps for daily needs like this.

The programme was officiated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Rushdan Mohd Jailani, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni). Also present were Dr. Sofia Hayati Yusoff, PWZ Deputy Director and the management of Petronas Bandar Baru Nilai.
