NILAI,  September, 24 2018 – The USIM Fire Corps Accreditation Ceremony for Kor Siswa Bomba Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (Undergraduate Fire Corps USIM) was organized to celebrate USIM trainees who have completed three semesters of training as Undergraduate Fire Corps. 35 trainees consisting of 26 females, 9 males, the pioneer batch of Kor Siswa Bomba USIM were successfully commissioned after undergoing 100 credit hours of fire training. The course for this uniform body was the latest approach by the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) to introduce the department’s functions and duties more thoroughly.

It is different from the implementation of ‘Fire Brigade’ or ‘Fire Cadet’ which is available at Public / Private Institutions of Higher Learning . This program is the first program created in the IHL and currently only USIM and University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) offer the Kor Siswa Bomba (Undergraduate Fire Corps) course. JBPM aims through this course the accredited trainees will serve as Fire Squad Assistance Officers.

The establishment of the Kor Siswa Bomba is an effort between JBPM and the Public Institutions of Higher Learning to produce students with a self-disciplined personality, high self-esteem and knowledgeable in the field of fire operations and fire safety. Indirectly it will be able to form teams capable of handling early intervention when there is an emergency on campus and thus creating a community that prioritizes the culture of security in daily life.

Prof Dato Dr Musa Ahmad in his speech said, in line with USIM’s desire to produce a holistic and balanced graduates, these are among the efforts made by the university so that every graduate is capable to contribute to the excellence of the university and at the same time will be the future leaders of the country. In addition, they are hoped to being able to adapt easily when appointed as head of a team in the future.

Producing efficient and outstanding ‘rescuers of society’ not only depends on academic excellence alone, but it is also closely related to many factors including the creation of good personality, discipline and high moral values, superior self-esteem and good leadership attitude. These are among the necessary features to be instilled into the spirit of the Kor Siswa Bomba to produce a graduate who is not only qualified, but also able to be a useful asset to the religion, race and nation “, he added.

In conjunction with the Kor Siswa Bomba USIM Accreditation Ceremony, the auspicious event was initiated with the Presentation and the Wearing of Insignia of Honor Ceremony to USIM Management and appointed Officers as the Honorary Officers of Kor Siswa Bomba USIM and the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between USIM and JBPM at the Executive Chancellory Lounge of USIM.

It is followed by the Passing Out Training Parade of the Kor Siswa Bomba at the USIM Chancellory Square and the Accreditation Ceremony of Fire Student Corps at the PERMATA College Hall. The ceremony was officiated by YAS Tuan Mohammad Hamdan Hj Wahid, Director-General of the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia.
