JOHOR BHARU, July 14, 2017: In conjunction with the 10th Global Congress and Conferment Ceremony on theme ‘Sejahtera Leadership: Beyond Sustainable Development Goals’ at Soka Gakkai International (SGI) Asia Culture and Education Centre JB;  the start-up was a symbolic ‘Run for Peace 2017’. It was indeed of manifestation in support to the culture of peace that SGI has been proactively promoted worldwide.

Puan Sri Masrah Abidin, spouse of USIM Chairperson flag-off this symbolic ‘Run for Peace 2017′ attended by a good mixed of 200 international delegates of the 10th Global Congress and Conferment Ceremony held 14 -15 July at SGI-ACEC & 16 July at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Sustainable Campus  in Skudai.

The 10th GCCC was organized jointly by Sejahtera Leadership Initiative (SLI), Acendens Asia (AA), Royal Institution Singapore (RI) in collaboration with the Soka Gakkai Malaysia (SGM), the UN Regional Centre of Expertise Tongyeong, South Korea and UTM.

Keynote speakers on 14-15 July comprised of Prof Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, President of the 14th International Association of Universities (IAU) Paris who’s also USIM Chairperson and the SLI Founding Convenor; Dr Park Eun Kyung, Chairperson of UN-RCE Tongyeong; Dato’ Dr Ronald McCoy, Former President of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear Weapons; Dr. Nasha Rozaidi Khaw, USM Senior Lecturer and Prof Dato’ Dr Christopher Boey of SGM.

The keynote speakers articulated their presentation in response to the theme of Global Congress: ‘Sejahtera Leadership – Beyond Sustainable Development Goals’. In a nutshell, they strike a balance among the needs of the people you lead, your own needs, needs of organization and needs of the country n world for peaceful co-existence, harmony n happiness.

The highlight on the 10th Global Conferment Ceremony was the special top award of RI Hononary Fellow & Doctor Fellow (FDr) that was presented to SGI President Dr Daisaku Ikeda in recognition of his global peace initiative n programs.

The finale of Congress was a site visit to UTM Living Lab hosted by Prof Datuk Ir Dr Wahid Omar. Vice Chancellor of UTM Sustainable Campus. The experts, champions n students showcased evidences of community development work done n future sustainable program

The 3-day congress deliberation concurred that when you really transcend your personal needs and focus on needs of others and of society n community, everyone will benefits – including yourself. The result is not only greater n real peaceful co- existence for people at all levels, but greater happiness – regardless of the community that lead to big changes in awareness n huge changes in Sejahtera (a well-balanced) Leadership progm effectivess for future of mankind.

In conclusion, it was resolved that congress speakers and delegates should further discuss with their respective constituents on the needs to adapt and adopt this Sejahtera leadership concept. As for the SLI, Prof Tan Sri Dzulkifli announced that a monograft on matter discussed at the congress n next steps for the way forward.
