NILAI, September 23, 2016 – The National Month Celebrationbrought its curtain down with a procession of staff and student contingents,setting off from Tunku Najihah Sports Complex (Pusat Sukan Tunku Najihah) checkpoint to USIM Tuanku Canselor Hall (Dewan Tuanku Canselor USIM).
USIM Vice Chancellor, Prof Datuk Dr Musa Ahmad in his speech reminded us of the history and origin of the early warriors who had waged physical, mental, and time for the sake of freedom and prosperity as we have enjoyed today.
“Furthermore, independence was achieved thanks to the struggle, without expectingfor consolation or reward, based on the deep-rooted spirit called ‘national spirit’.By upholding the dignity and honor of the state, the country, and the nation itself, it is thus appropriate #sehatisejiwabecome the theme of the independence day celebration as a sign of recognition to the souls who had fought for this country’s freedom and as a sign of remembrance to the present generation of where they come from.”
A few drama performances about the meaning of independence and freedom from the communist colonialization were also held by the students of USIM during the event, together with prize-giving ceremony to the best contingent and ten winners of Wefie Merdeka Hashtag. The Best Contingent was won by Kolej Permata Insan, with Jabatan Pendaftar as the second runner-up, and Jabatan Bendahari as the third runner-up.Each received cash prize worth RM1000, RM600, and RM400.
