NILAI, 18 Jun 2019 – In conjunction with the 19th Anniversary of the Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM) on June 18, a brief prayer and dua ceremony was held at the Tuanku Muhriz Islamic Complex, led by Ustaz Mohammad Aizuddin Abdul Aziz, the Director of the Islamic Centre.

The University Management Committee Meeting held on 28 November 2017 set 18 June as the date of USIM’s anniversary. USIM was the first Islamic University established by the Government of Malaysia and the 12th Public University (UA) in the country. It is intended to arise as the main channel for religious school students and religious-stream students to continue their studies at the higher education level”.

“Its study programmes are developed to meet the needs of the market and industry and able to shape the development of human capital with high soft skills”.

Prof Dato Dr Musa Ahmad, the Vice-Chancellor of USIM, added that the intention of its establishment is in line with the manifestation of the Government to produce credible Islamic leaders and to fully safeguard the interests of the nation and Muslims. In addition, it aims to make Malaysia a key model of Islamic countries in the world and become the centre of educational excellence by using the local curriculum to ensure the integrity of Islam in the country to realise the development of a new Islamic civilisation. In addition, it also aims to restore the increasingly frail leadership in Islamic knowledge.

Currently, USIM has a total of 12,057 students and also 260 students in the PERMATA Insan College. The number of USIM alumni now stands at 20,056.

The ceremony was also attended by Prof Tan Sri Dato Dr Abdul Shukor Hj Husin, the first Vice-Chancellor of USIM, Prof Dr Abdul Rahim Abdul Rahman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) and Prof Madya Dr Mohd Rushdan Mohd Jailani, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students Affairs and Alumni).
