Three Asean schools camped in Kolej PERMATA Insan, USIM

NILAI, 28 February 2019 – ASEAN Islamic Science Camp 2019 had taken place in Kolej PERMATA Insan (KPI) from 14 to 21 February 2019. This annual program was even more exciting in 2019 with the participation of an Indonesian school.

Last year, students from Islamic Studies Demonstration School (ISDS), Prince of Songkla University, Thailand had participated in this event. This year they were joined by students from Pesantren Terpadu Serambi Mekkah (PTSM) from West Sumatra, Indonesia. Various programs had been organised to bring the 3 schools closer together in the spirit of ukhuwah.

Among the activities that had taken place include friendly football and netball match, traditional dish cooking competition, Halal Action for Young Scientist Programme, a trip to Petrosains, and a night of cross-cultural and campus encounter. The students could exchange ideas and thoughts when participating in the activities based on their personal experiences in their own schools.

According to Muhammad Zaim Shukri (15), Asas 3 student of Kolej PERMATA Insan, “I feel so thrilled to have our friends from Thailand and Indonesia here this week. They have educational orientation that is quite similar with us in KPI. All week they are joining us in our schedule, waking up early in the morning for the memorisation class, for recreation and sports, and more. We share so many things.”

Faiz Nuanmee (16), student of ISDS, PSU said, “The first time I arrived in Kolej PERMATA Insan, I was so impressed with the condusive facilities. Our programs are also very interesting. My friends and I are most interested in halal research. KPI students are so lucky because they have a fully-equipped halal lab.”

ASEAN Islamic Science Camp 2019 was officiated by YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Musa Ahmad, Vice Chancellor of USIM, in conjunction with the cross-cultural night program. Students from all three countries had presented very exciting and fascinating performances including dikir barat, muhibah cultural dance, traditional zapin dance, poetry recital, and more.
