SERDANG, October 31, 2017 – The Aroma Team, which consists of four students from the Food Biotechnology Programme, Faculty of Science and Technology, USIM has successfully won the second prize of Pertandingan Usahawan Inovasi Piala Menteri Pendidikan Tinggi Malaysia 2017 at Philea Mines Beach Resort, Seri Kembangan.

Through their innovation of torch ginger or bunga kantan cube, this team utilises authentic torch ginger to ease the cooking of food (a lot of Malay cuisine uses this as an ingredient to enhance the aroma of the dish), and to make it tastes just like as if the cook is using natural torch ginger plant.

“The Aroma Team was successfully shortlisted to the Semi-Grand Finale session, where we were among 30 contestants from various education institutions, and out of that, we were selected to the Grand Finale session with the other nine teams to present our innovation to the panel of judges,” said Wan Nur ‘Afina Abdulah Khir, one of the team members.

The closing ceremony is officiated by YB Dato’ Seri Idris bin Jusoh, the Minister of Higher Education. They proudly walked away with a plaque and a cash of RM 6,000.
