NILAI, 22th  August 2022 – Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and Nestlé Product Sdn. Bhd. (Nestlé) established a smart and strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement to provide knowledge and awareness related to the need for halal nutrition as well as the importance of healthy lifestyle practises to school students through the Halal@School with Nestlé’s Program.

The Halal@School with Nestle is a corporate social responsibility (CSR) program organized by the Institute of Fatwa and Halal (IFFAH) USIM in collaboration with Nestle Malaysia, which targets the participation of primary school students and is also one of the industry’s proactive measures in supporting the dissemination of halal consumption knowledge that has been worked out by the university to the community.

With its “Halal Nutrition, Excellent Education” theme, Halal@School with Nestlé promotes the understanding of the importance of consuming halal food among all Muslim and non-Muslim individuals and at the same time promotes halal, clean, safe, and healthy food products.

The early cooperation between USIM and Nestlé in organising this program began through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed back in 2018 and until now, a total of 13 Halal@School with Nestlé series have been implemented with the involvement of more than 2,500 students from 54 schools around Negeri Sembilan and Selangor.

    

According to USIM Vice Chancellor, Professor Ts. Dr. Sharifuddin Md Shaarani, the collaboration between USIM and Nestlé is one of the industry’s proactive initiatives in supporting the knowledge dissemination program on halal consumption conducted by the university to the community.

At the MoA signing ceremony, USIM was represented by the Vice Chancellor and Professor Dr. Irwan Mohd Subri, Director of IFFAH, while Nestlé was represented by Dato’ Adnan Pawanteh, Executive Director of Group Corporate Affairs, Nestlé Malaysia, and Tuan Haji Othman Md Yusoff, Head of Halal Affairs, Nestlé Malaysia.
