NILAI, 13 Julai 2020 – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) reaches an agreement on working together to empower human capital through staff and student exchange programs between these two institutions.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at the USIM Gallery. USIM was represented by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ridza Wahiddin and witnessed by the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Rosalina Abdul Salam. Meanwhile, MTA was represented by the MTA Chairman, Mr. Muhammad Fikri Mohamad Rawi and witnessed by Mr. Azli Munani, the Chief Executive Officer of MTA.
“USIM is currently moving towards prosumerism and it has become one of USIM’s strategic thrusts in realizing the university’s aspiration to become a High Impact Glocal Islamic science university by 2022. It is highly hoped that industries such as MTA will support and be a part of this effort with USIM,” said Prof. Ridza Wahiddin.
Another form of cooperation that has been planned is the latest information sharing sessions related to the field of takaful and financial governance. The sharing sessions will be carried out through a series of forums, seminars, and briefings. The Faculty of Science and Technology of USIM is one of the faculties that has initiated cooperation with MTA via teleconferencing using Webinar application on May 22, 2020.
A seminar entitled ‘Takaful Industry: Resilience during Crisis’ was conducted as one of the beneficial activities for the university’s staff and students during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period. The session also offers first-hand exposure to the realities of the corporate world from the industry players themselves.
USIM and MTA have also previously signed an MoU to provide an opportunity for industrial training to USIM students, conducting joint research in the field of insurance and financial management, as well as the exchange of expertise on pedagogical materials.
