NILAI, July 6th 2022 -Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) has mobilised its first group of volunteers, consisting of 15 staff and students, to Baling, Kedah to help flood victims in six villages, which are Kampung Padang Dan, Kampung Iboi, Kampung Bok bak, Kampung Sadek, Kampung Tanjung and Kampung Masjid Tiak.

A group of USIM volunteers, led by Encik Nur Ekmal Buhary, Director of the USIM Sports Center, started moving at about 9 p.m. on July 5, bringing with them necessities in the form of dry food supplies, medicines, baby necessities, and prayer necessities such as telekung, sarongs, mats, blankets and pillows, together with post-flood cleaning equipment such as water jets and detergents.

USIM Vice Chancellor, Professor Ts. Dr. Sharifudin Md Shaarani, who was present to flag off the group of volunteers, said four four-wheel drive vehicles and a van had been ready to bring the volunteers and essential items to the affected areas.

“As for the current situation in Baling, USIM is always open to providing assistance to victims affected by natural disasters, and I would like to thank all the volunteers that participated in this flood relief mission and to always remember to take care of their safety and health throughout this operation,” he said again.

Also participating in the aid mission in Baling was the Chairman of the USIM Board of Directors, the Honorable Senator Datuk Dr Zulkifli Mohamad al-Bakri. Also present at the location is the Menteri Besar of Kedah, YAB Dato’ Seri Haji Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.
