NILAI, November 4, 2017 – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) was honored as the 11th National Academic Figure award by the Ministry of Higher Education at the National Academics Awards (AAN) at Mariott Hotel, Putrajaya yesterday.

At the event, the award was presented by the honorable Dato’ Seri Idris bin Jusoh, Minister of Higher Education for his contribution as an academician in his field of expertise, his extensive experience in academia, as well as for his administration of higher education in and outside the country.

The value of knowledge he has often shared with the public through writing in the media touched on various issues pertaining to education, science and current events, such as the columns he wrote for the New Straits Times newspaper since 1995 and currently in The Sun.

Prior to his appointment as the Chairman of USIM’s Board of Directors, Prof. Tan Sri Dato ‘Dzulkifli Abdul Razak had a direct relationship with the university as he held the Academic Chair of Islamic Leadership and was a chief fellow at the Faculty of Leadership and Management.

Among his highest achievements was the Gilbert Medal award on last May and, thus, making history as the sole recipient from Asia to receive the Gilbert Medal for his exceptional leadership and extensive experience in the academia, as well as his administration of higher education in Malaysia and abroad.

USIM’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato Dr. Musa Ahmad was also present to celebrate this achievement. In the event, he represented USIM’s staff members in congratulating and honoring the recognitions received by Prof. Tan Sri Dzulkifli.

The AAN is the highest recognition by the Ministry of Higher Education to be given to academicians who make high contributions and excel in the advancement of the nation’s education and development, and as a tribute to the nation’s intellectuals.
