NILAI, 31 October 2019 – The celebration of USIM Quality and Innovation Day (HKI) 2019 organised by Quality Assurance, Policy and Academic Excellence (QAPEX) Centre this year celebrates the theme “Semarakkan Innovasi, Lestarikan Kualiti” (Celebrating Innovation, Sustaining Quality) in the effort to encourage the citizens of USIM to uphold the culture of quality and innovation for excellent service performance.
The Vice Chancellor of USIM, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ridza Wahiddin in his speech said that the enforcement of ethics and integrity among USIM citizens is crucial to ensure excellence is achieved alongside with ethical moral values.
“Citizens of USIM should be alert on the continuous efforts towards improving the quality and productivity of their PTj. The organization of Quality Day is a reminder for us to ensure continuous commitment in carrying out their duties and responsibilities through efficient and quality service” said the Vice Chancellor during the closing ceremony of HKI 2019.
He added that USIM needs to do a paradigm shift to a more creative, innovative and competitive work culture to be more advanced in strengthening its execution system. He stresses on the application of ‘5P’ aspects in providing services to build a quality work habits and to improve performance namely purpose, passion, product, productivity and profit. The emphasis is translated with unity of good practice such as integrity and execution of work as an Ibadah to obtain blessings by Allah SWT.
During the ceremony, he presented the trophies to winners of Creative Idea competition and the Amazing Race. Eleven groups participated in the Creative Idea competition, with IQRA’ group brought home first prize of RM500 in cash. IQRA’ group introduced innovative idea of Smart Step Tools which enable the users with height below 150cm to reach monograph items on the highest shelves. USEDECO group who competed decorative ideas using recycle items in the context of edible garden, obtained second place with prize money of RM300. The third prize winner is Ukhwah Group with their idea titled Usrah-PBL as a Teaching Learning Method.
The Amazing Race competition received 23 participations with OK BOLEH! Group from Centre of Strategic Communication (StraComm) received first prize of RM1,000, Qalburace as runner up with RM70 while Running Girl from Treasury as second runner up winner bringing home RM500. It is estimated almost 170 participations in these competitions which began on 30th October.
Among those present in the closing ceremony were Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and Alumni, YBhg. Prof. Dr. Mohd Rushdan Mohd Jailani and the Management of the university.
