NILAI, 13 August 2018 – Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and seven industries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support of The Mizanhome Project in an effort to motivate the team that will represent Malaysia and South East Asia in the Solar Decathahlon Middle East 2018 competition (SDME 2018). The competition will be held in November 2018 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

“In recognition of this important project, the MoU enhances the cooperation between industries to ensure continuous support for the Mizanhome Project and to indirectly widen the perspective of students to engage with relevant industries in similar fields,” said Prof Dato’ Dr. Musa Ahmad, Vice Chancellor of USIM.

He added that the MoU provided a strong relationship between USIM and the industries for further development of effective quality research and learning in USIM.

To support the project, the industries contributed building construction materials and financial support. The companies involved were Nautical Sanitaryware Sdn Bhd, Kelab Pembangunan Profesionalisme Arkitek Kuala Lumpur & Selangor, Rockwool Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Bidai Solutions Sdn Bhd, Kumpulan Johawaki Sdn Bhd and Zog Engineering Sdn Bhd. Beger Paint Co. Ltd from Thailand will also collabrate in supporting the Mizanhome Project.

Mohd Azli Mohamad Jamil (Treasurer of Kuala Lumpur & Selangor Professional Development Architect Club), Mr. Ron Pickering (Sales Director, Rockwool Malaysia Sdn Bhd), Pn. Rafidah Baharin (Managing Director of Bidai Solutions Sdn Bhd), En. Mohamad Akmal Dato’ Johari (Executive Director of Kumpulan Johawaki Sdn Bhd), Mr. Calvin Chay Joon Ying (Technical Director, Zog Engineering Sdn Bhd) and Mr. Micheal Tan (Chief Executive Director PP Chin Hin Sdn Bhd)

Partaking in SDME 2018 definitely a highlight for Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, USIM and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). The Mizanhome Project will be represented by 35 students from USIM and 20 students from UTM.

The main sponsor of the SDME competition, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced USIM as one the the teams qualified for the competition along with 20 other universities around the world at Dubai Convention and Exhibition Centre.
