NILAI, January 30, 2020 – Towards a vibrant and healthy generation, the university is now not only a medium to pursuit knowledge but also encourages students to engage in sports activities and programs that enable individuals to develop sports as a lifestyle. The Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) will not miss the opportunity to participate in the upcoming MASUM Tournament. The handing over of the Flag to contingent involving 90 athletes was completed by Prof. Madya Dr. Rushdan Mohd Jailani at the Kompleks Sukan Tunku Najihah, USIM.

The annual MASUM event organized by the Ministry of Education (Sports Division) is divided into Phase 1 and Phase 2, with Phase 1 commencing from February 1 to February 6, 2020 at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Arau and MASUM Phase 2 July 21 to 27, 2020 at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam.

There are 7 games to be contested including badminton, basketball, martial arts, ping pong, chess, tennis and sepak takraw.

“USIM always gives support and encouragement to USIM members to participate in sports activities to generate new talents as potential athletes to represent USIM in higher level sports tournaments and to promote enhanced health and physical fitness.”

Prof Rushdan explained that student engagement is an important factor in building a healthy and vibrant culture that gives positive impact on the university over the long term as well as fostering a “USIM CERGAS AND CERDAS” culture apart from teamwork and integration between gender and gender. be healthy.

“This effort will also highlight USIM’s image as an IPTA active in sports and recreational activities. Hopefully this tournament will bring a positive image to the development of activities outside of academia,” he added.

In previous MASUM tournament, last year, USIM won 1 gold from taekwondo, 1 silver and 2 bronze from martial arts, 1 bronze from sports and 1 bronze from ping pong. Total of medal won were 1 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze.
